On the Wings of Heroes Book Talk Assignment 1

In the story "On the Wings of Heroes" is about a boy named Davy that is living during the WWII era back at home. His father and Bill (older brother) fly's B-17's in the Navy in the Atlantic. It describes a life of a military family in America while there parents/brother fight in the front. Davy practices Air Raid drills at school and seeing propaganda everywhere about joining the war. My thoughts are that it's a excellent novel about family love in war. Knowing that your family member is at war knowing that they couldn't be here the next day or forever. It also describes that Davy matures when he gets older and the longer the war last. You may not know how a family member may be dead or being captive as a prisoner of war.

The conflicts in the book "On the Wings of Heroes" there are several conflicts that Davy has to face. First Davy has to face his brother leaving to the Navy to station at London. He has to dell with his brother not being for him and worrying not coming back home. Other people have to deal with this problem but Davy takes it more serious than other kids (Person vs Self). Also Davy has to deal with other kids bullying him because they believed in Nazism. So he has to be called by stereotypical names. (Person vs Person/  Person vs Society) Maybe the theme could be about we all have to go through something in life. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. We all have to go through it.
