Final "Night" Blog 5

Finally, the book by Elie Wiesel, has ended. The true story of a Holocaust survivor has finally come to a conclusion. Its unfortunate that Elie's father was gassed to death was a sad ending. I thought both him and his father would survive the camp together. But not all ending become happy for everyone. The war was over, now what Elie must do not knowing if he had anymore family members left alive? There's so much information that Elie hasn't told us in the book night. All in all I was exceed of the story of a Holocaust survivor and how it felt being there.

These types of genres I enjoy to read. Reading Holocaust/WWII makes me think of they survive or how things were like during the late 30's and early 40's Its one of the strategies I do if I'm choosing a book to read. I've always liked reading these types of of heroic stories or reading a story of survivor and how he/she battled it. Reading the type of genre you like can help you feel comfortable about your book. Yea, once in a while you need mix up the genres you read but it's always important to read a book, based on the genre you like.

The Ask and the Answer Blog 3

So far for the sum of "The Ask and the Answer" Todd and Viola have reunited for the first time since the beginning of the story. They had overcome there problems of fear but there enemy is still to be. In the alternating side, Viola has overcome her stubbornness and Todd has become less violent. (I know its confusing because they have alternating sides) The enemy is still lurking around in Heaven and trying to hunt Todd and Viola down. But still there recovering remembering what happen and how they came to "heaven". In the middle of the book they discover that they had friends like in "heaven". But there not named there just related as friends.

Some of the interesting part of the plot is that in the beginning they are stranded in a deserted place called "heaven"? Then in the next event after that they separated but they can contacted each other by voice because there is nothing there. Now leading after that, they see a familiar face known as Mayor Prentiss or "The Enemy". Now there trying battle the enemy but they get injured in the process. There healing there battle wounds, now they have to ask why they are here? They asked and they want a answer.

Night Summary Blog 4

So far in the book "Night" the author is the main character, which means he's telling his perspective during the Holocaust in 1944. The camp he went to is in Poland near Warsaw and Auschwitz. He remembers the horrors of the Holocaust. For example, " I see a boy hanging down in a tree. His mouth gaping and his tongue loose/ripped." Later as he survives he encounters people from the Holocaust. Some they remember, but some they completely ignore Eli. Some of things Eli saw was horrific that any human should never ever have to see in there life. For example, " Once the Germans order us to take our clothes off and run to the shelter running while it was rocky and pouring." That's just some of the basic's that Eli had to encounter in the Holocaust.

One of the Memory Moment in the story is the whole story. The book first starts in the 50's and he tells the story of what he did during the Holocaust in 1944. He remembers the ghettos and later transferred to camp in Poland. He also describes what the Germans did when they came to there house and took them into the ghetto. Also that he wrote "Night" for a reason, to tell people how was the Holocaust during the war and how he overcome it now (in the 50's) He goes into detail of what he experience during the Holocaust and what the horrors were.

Bystanders of the Holocaust

I believe the reason why, that there were many bystanders during the holocaust in Germany and all over the world is that they were afraid. People probably knew what was going on, but maybe they didn't care. They know if they standing up against a much powerful force in Europe. Or maybe people didn't wanted to deal with the problem. People know if they get caught protecting Jews, they're dead in a instant. I think that the reason why people stood up against the Third Right is that they may have family members they know got caught from the SS. Also, that they wanted to challenge the Nazi and try to battle them to believe whats right. I think what inspired others is that they showed maybe propaganda against the Nazis or maybe they seen footage of whats going on in ghettoes the during the time. I think what they did to help is that they kept the Jews safe in there house, or maybe they kept them as workers in a factory like Schindler did. If a lot more people had the guts to face the Germans, we may have cause the Holocaust end sooner or maybe even longer?

The Ask and The Answer

So far, in the book "The Ask and The Answer" its about a group of young teens are in a special place called heaven. Todd and Viola are about to find their worst enemy, and he is waiting to welcome them on heaven. Now there separated and now looking for each other in a place which might cause good or bad? Why are they so called heaven? Who is the enemy they are fearing for? They have to ask, to know the answer. Todd is think that this is a glory hole, and thinking that this place is a fantasy. But for Viola she thinks that its a trap and she was sent here for a reason. I am at page 135 and Todd is finding clues of what the enemy might do. But Viola is in a difficult spot because she is dealing with the enemy. The questions are rising up we may find the answer soon.

For the book "The Ask and The Answer" its teen fiction. The thing I like about teen fiction is that, you can relate the problems the characters are going through. For example "Viola is scared and thinks this place is a setup." Sometimes I wonder if some places are setups. And, the thing I don't like is that it focuses on the love story of a book. I've never read any teen fiction before because I didn't have any interest except for the Hunger Games series. So far I kinda of gone both sides of the book. Sometimes I hate the book, but later I think its a interesting book. I've gone crazy decide whats going to happen next. The newest character I hate is Mayor Prentiss aka "The Enemy". He's the most evilest person I've ever read in a book.

On the Wings of Heroes Book Talk Assignment 1

In the story "On the Wings of Heroes" is about a boy named Davy that is living during the WWII era back at home. His father and Bill (older brother) fly's B-17's in the Navy in the Atlantic. It describes a life of a military family in America while there parents/brother fight in the front. Davy practices Air Raid drills at school and seeing propaganda everywhere about joining the war. My thoughts are that it's a excellent novel about family love in war. Knowing that your family member is at war knowing that they couldn't be here the next day or forever. It also describes that Davy matures when he gets older and the longer the war last. You may not know how a family member may be dead or being captive as a prisoner of war.

The conflicts in the book "On the Wings of Heroes" there are several conflicts that Davy has to face. First Davy has to face his brother leaving to the Navy to station at London. He has to dell with his brother not being for him and worrying not coming back home. Other people have to deal with this problem but Davy takes it more serious than other kids (Person vs Self). Also Davy has to deal with other kids bullying him because they believed in Nazism. So he has to be called by stereotypical names. (Person vs Person/  Person vs Society) Maybe the theme could be about we all have to go through something in life. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. We all have to go through it.

Workers Rights

The way people are working in sweatshops and its horrific in what they work in. In the Bangladesh Article it said that "search for victims of the collapse of a factory building, scouring the basement of the complex that crumbled in on itself and killed 1,127 people." Also that in the Bangladesh article it said "The government has accused the owners and builders of the eight-storey complex of using shoddy building materials, including substandard rods, bricks and cement, and of not obtaining the necessary clearances." I believe that sweatshop workers should get their rights. There working in normal working conditions and the locations they worked in. I learn that the real truth of how my clothes are being made. Realizing were my clothes are being made is questioning were my clothes are made of.

The argument in the poem is how workers describe there conditions during the 20's. In "The Sweatshop" poem it said that I run the machine as if I wanted to overtake them —I race mindlessly, endlessly." Its talking about its taking over her life for someone else is life. From the article it talks about what happen but in a poem it describes what happen from 1st point of view. My understanding about this poem is that we don't know wear our clothing is being made. We need to know whats going on behind the factory doors. It also describes that whats it like inside a horrible working condition building you have to work in.

Have Sports Fans Gone too Far Response?

As a sports fan for the Chicago teams and team all over the world I could understand why they act insane after a bad game. I understand that people would get upset like I did after the Blackhawks lost to the Kings to loose the Stanley Cup. Or the Bears losing to the packers in the that win it or loose it game to go to the playoffs. I would be angry at me and my team but I kind of recovery quickly. But these fans are causing riots after a World Cup game. For them its a lost of an achievement or something important to them and there friends/family. I don't think that fans are taking it too serious but for them its life. Like basketball for me.

The Son of Neptune Summary

So far I am on page 274 in chapter 26. Percy has acted a little weird as usually. Piper has still be now where to be found since the beginning of the book. Hazel is still predicting who she really is and what she is made of. The rest of the demigods have no where to bee seen. I am worried of what might had happen to everyone. The only character there is is Percy Jackson. Even with with him he still doesn't know where he is and forget his past. But Percy knows whats happening to everyone else. He thinks he is the key to help find the rod. The point of view is both first person point and a little bit of third person. Most of the time the characters are talking to each other. But some times A narrater will come once in a while to tell you whats going on in the story. For example "Percy, will look into Pipers face sometimes and questions if he will ever tell his true identity."

Leo is a fun and enjoyable person. He's adventurous like everyone else but more like the party animal of the group. But sometimes he gets weird flashbacks when he was littler. we don't know his childhood but Leo won't tell us. Something is going up in his head that he doesn't want to tell us. Or maybe he was an orphan and e doesn't have parents. Is there something Leo is not telling us that his a secret. Or this just a lye he is telling us.

Son of Neptune Summary So Far

Son of Neptune is the second book of The Heroes of Olympus series. It continues the story from the first book but some things sim strange. Percy is confuse? He doesn't know where he is and wants answers. He is surround with demigods and half-bloods. Hazel is suppose to be dead but she is still alive. Frank wants to know who he really is. Find out with new demigods and new fearsome monster as they continue to find the golden rod.

Percy Jackson is the exact same character from the Percy Jackson Series. He is brave, adventurous, but is surprisingly questioning were he is. On page 35 when we are introduced to Percy "Sometimes I feel like, why me why am I am the chosen or the son of a Greek God." When Percy helps step in and takes the job of the leader. We've seen this in the Percy Jackson series and he is exactly playing ht e same for Hero's  of Olympus series. He takes on the giants while trying to find the next clue for the rod. " I am bursting my way through the giants trying to find the next clue." Except in the series he is more adventurous than the Lighting Thief book.

- questioning everything
- confuse as why he is here?
- leader
- doesn't remember his past.
- Can't find his old friends.
- adventurous

Lemmon Brown Response

I think that we should all learn about this lesson. We should all be thankful for what we have. Cause other people aren't so lucky in life. In the story Lemmon Brown is a young teenage boy running away from his father because he is tired of him. He escapes and ends up in a house and later gets surprised by older man named Lemmon Brown. He tells the story that he was in the same situation but his father was never there for him. It was him and his mom but they really got along that much. So the boy learned a lesson that he should be thankful to have a father like him. So he returns home and comes to his father and loving him again. I think that this story touched my heart that you will have your arguments but they love you know matter what. I don't think that Sweet ole' Lemmon Brown ever mentioned is mom. I think that her mom wasn't caring for him and let him go with his father. I think that this story is similar of what we are talking about in Lit. Homelessness is a big deal and no matter what age you are. People struggle all the time in these situation. Will we ever know what happen, I don't know but each person has a struggle in life.
